Kunyak Coffee Farmers Prepare for El Niño with New 8×15m Solar Dryer

Kunyak, Kericho County — Coffee farmers in Kunyak, Kericho County, are taking proactive steps to strengthen coffee post-harvest handling with the installation of a new 8m × 15m solar dryer.
The project, delivered by Trovancy Technologies, is designed to provide farmers with a reliable and environmentally friendly solution for drying coffee, particularly during periods of unpredictable weather and increased rainfall associated with El Niño conditions.
The solar dryer will help farmers improve control over the drying process while reducing their dependence on traditional open-air drying methods. By providing a protected drying environment, the facility is expected to support better handling of coffee and help minimize exposure to rain, moisture and other environmental challenges.
The project reflects the growing need for practical agricultural technologies that can help coffee-growing communities prepare for changing weather conditions while maintaining quality throughout the post-harvest process.
For Trovancy Technologies, the Kunyak project is another step toward providing smart, practical and sustainable solutions for farmers and agricultural organizations across Kenya.
